Since 1999, we have celebrated COR Commitment Day on or around February 10, during African-American Heritage Month. In the first year of this tradition we asked the high schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago to act in solidarity by saying the COR Prayer and Pledge on Commitment Day. We continue to use the COR Prayer and Pledge, but we have developed the day over the years, including grade schools, inviting schools to plan and share their own harmony lessons and rituals, sponsoring prayer-writing contests and creating a prayer service for schools to use on COR Commitment Day.

This year, we hope all of the nearly 300 schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago will participate on February 10, 2004 by saying the prayer and pledge and by planning activities to fit their own communities.

These materials are meant to inspire teachers, staff and students to work to create just, actively anti-racist cultures in their schools and larger communities.

Please join COR on February 10th in taking a stand against racism and in building hope-filled and welcoming communities.

Follow the links above to help you live out your COR Commitment. Versions suitable for printing are available in PDF format.
